Women's Affairs Minister Hails Tinubu for Appointing First Female DG of Nigerian Law Schoo

The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has congratulated Dr. Olugbemisola Titilayo Odusote on her appointment as the first female Director-General of the Nigerian Law School since its establishment in 1962, describing the development as a historic breakthrough for women’s leadership in Nigeria.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Minister commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what she called a bold and visionary decision that reflects the administration’s commitment to gender inclusion, merit, and equitable representation in national leadership under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Sulaiman-Ibrahim noted that Odusote’s emergence marks a defining milestone for the legal profession and sends a powerful message of inspiration to women and girls across the country.

“This appointment is historic, symbolic, and deeply inspiring. It is a defining moment not only for the Nigerian Law School and the legal profession but also for Nigerian women and girls nationwide. It reinforces the powerful message that it is truly Women O’Clock in Nigeria,” she said.

Describing Dr. Odusote as a distinguished academic, seasoned administrator, and accomplished institutional leader, the Minister applauded her decades of dedicated service, professional excellence, and transformative contributions to the Nigerian Law School, saying they have adequately prepared her for this new responsibility.

She expressed confidence that the new DG will strengthen legal education, deepen institutional reforms, promote ethical leadership, and enhance the global competitiveness of the Nigerian Law School across its various campuses.

The Minister further stated that the appointment would inspire young women to pursue excellence and aspire to leadership positions without limitations. She reaffirmed the commitment of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs to advancing women’s empowerment, dismantling systemic barriers, and promoting gender-responsive leadership across national institutions.

She wished Dr. Odusote a successful and impactful tenure as Director-General of the Nigerian Law School.
