The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has clarified why several candidates who participated in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) are receiving the message “No Result Yet” when attempting to check their scores.

According to the examination body, the status primarily affects underage candidates whose results have been deliberately withheld pending further review.

In a statement addressing concerns from candidates and parents, JAMB explained that it has received numerous inquiries about the message, with many initially suspecting technical faults in the result-checking system. However, the Board clarified that the notification is intentional and reflects the eligibility status of affected candidates.

JAMB noted that results for candidates who do not meet the official age requirement have not yet been released, and whenever such candidates attempt to check their scores, the system automatically returns the “No Result Yet” message.

The Board reiterated its policy that only candidates who will be at least 16 years old by September 30, 2026 are eligible to sit for the UTME and be considered for admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions.

Nevertheless, JAMB stated that some underage candidates may still be considered under a special “exceptional ability” category. To qualify under this provision, candidates must obtain very high UTME scores and pass additional screening processes before being considered for admission.

The Board emphasised that the withheld results should not be interpreted as errors or technical glitches but rather as part of its commitment to enforcing admission guidelines and maintaining the integrity of the examination process.

JAMB therefore urged candidates and parents to remain calm and rely only on official communication channels for accurate updates regarding the status of UTME results.
