The Faculty Presidents’ Forum of the University of Jos has advised newly admitted students to suspend payment of the acceptance fee after a sudden and unexplained increase appeared on the university’s online payment portal.

In a memo issued on Monday, the Forum expressed concern that the increment surfaced without any official announcement, circular, or prior notice from the university management. It noted that similar portal-related glitches had occurred in previous academic sessions—making it necessary for students to exercise caution.

“The Leadership of the Faculty Presidents’ Forum wishes to notify all newly admitted students and the entire student body of the recent sudden increment in the acceptance fee displayed on the University’s payment portal,” the statement said.
“At this time, no official announcement, circular, or prior communication has been issued by the University regarding this increment. In light of this, and given similar portal glitches experienced in the past, we strongly advise all students to halt payment of the acceptance fee until further clarification is provided.”

The Forum added that it had already opened communication with the university management to seek immediate clarification and assured students that an official update would be communicated once details are confirmed.

Students were urged to remain calm, avoid making payments, and wait for formal guidance from the appropriate authorities.

The memo was jointly signed by the Faculty Presidents’ Forum, University of Jos.
