Troops of the 22 Armoured Brigade deployed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Patigi have arrested eight suspected kidnappers and rescued two victims.

In a significant breakthrough in the fight against insecurity, Nigerian troops have arrested eight suspected kidnappers and successfully rescued several abducted victims during a military operation in Kwara State.

According to a statement released on Sunday by military authorities, the operation was carried out following credible intelligence on the activities of a kidnapping syndicate operating in parts of the state. The troops stormed the criminals' hideout in a swift and coordinated assault that caught the suspects off guard.

“The suspects were apprehended during a clearance operation in the forested areas between Ifelodun and Moro Local Government Areas,” the statement read. “All kidnapped victims were rescued unharmed and have been reunited with their families.”

Weapons, mobile phones, and personal items belonging to the victims were recovered from the suspects. The arrested individuals are currently in military custody and will be handed over to relevant security agencies for further investigation and prosecution.

The operation has been praised by local leaders and residents, who expressed relief over the growing presence and effectiveness of security forces in the region. They also called for continued military pressure to eradicate criminal networks threatening peace in the state.

This development comes amid ongoing nationwide efforts by the Nigerian Armed Forces to tackle insecurity, including banditry, kidnapping, and terrorism, especially in rural and forested areas.
