Students Get Major Boost as Tantita Commits to Scholarships and Job Creation

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has secured commitments for local and international scholarships, employment opportunities for graduates and student stakeholders, as well as mobility support from Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL) following a strategic engagement between the two organisations.

The agreement was reached during a high-level meeting between the NANS leadership, led by its President, Comrade Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, and the Managing Director of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, High Chief (Engr.) Kestin Ebimorbowei Pondi.

Speaking during the meeting, Afeez described Nigerian students as key stakeholders in national development and stressed the need for increased investment in education, youth empowerment, and student welfare.

In a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja by the Chief Press Secretary to the NANS President, James Ogunjimi Tolulope, the student leader commended Tantita Security Services for its role in safeguarding critical oil and gas infrastructure across the Niger Delta.

According to him, the company has distinguished itself through technology-driven surveillance, intelligence gathering, asset protection initiatives, youth empowerment programmes, and community development projects that have contributed significantly to protecting Nigeria’s economic interests.

Afeez also dismissed calls from some quarters urging the Federal Government to terminate Tantita’s security contract, insisting that the student body’s position is informed by the company’s track record in combating crude oil theft, pipeline vandalism, and illegal bunkering.

He noted that the firm’s interventions have strengthened national security and boosted economic stability through improved protection of the country’s oil and gas assets.

The NANS President further appealed to the company to expand its educational intervention programmes by providing additional scholarship opportunities for Nigerian students both within and outside the country.

He said greater access to quality education and international exposure would equip young Nigerians with the skills and knowledge needed to compete globally and contribute effectively to national development.

Afeez also urged the company to create employment opportunities for students and graduates, emphasizing that youth empowerment remains critical to Nigeria’s socio-economic growth.

Responding, Pondi reaffirmed Tantita’s commitment to supporting Nigerian students and advancing youth development initiatives across the country.

He explained that the company has continued to play a pivotal role in protecting Nigeria’s critical oil and gas infrastructure through intelligence-led operations, advanced surveillance technology, and community-based security engagements.

According to him, these efforts have significantly reduced crude oil theft, pipeline vandalism, and illegal refining activities, leading to increased crude oil production and improved efficiency across major oil production and export facilities.

Pondi added that Tantita has also made notable contributions to socio-economic development through job creation, youth engagement programmes, and community empowerment projects in host communities.

As part of the outcome of the meeting, he approved NANS’ requests for scholarship support covering both local and international studies, employment opportunities for graduates and stakeholders, and mobility support for the association’s leadership.

Both parties expressed optimism that the partnership would create new opportunities for Nigerian students while deepening collaboration in youth development and national growth.
