ENUGU — Seven outstanding pupils have qualified to represent the Enugu Region at the grand finale of the 2025 MTN mPulse Spelling Bee competition, scheduled to take place later this year in Lagos.

The finalists are Nelson Ede Chidibem, Praise Ihionu, Emeke Nwokeocha Samuel, Treasure Oyibosu, Mitchel Atanu Ufedo, Munachimso Onyemaechi, and Oyingba Douglas-Naingba.

They were selected from more than 500 pupils drawn from across the South-East and South-South regions, after a series of qualifying rounds that culminated in the Enugu Regional Finals, held at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Enugu, over the weekend.

From the 20 pupils who made it to the regional contest, the seven best spellers emerged through rigorous rounds of competition that tested their accuracy, composure, and mastery of English spelling.

Speaking at the event, MTN’s Regional Operations Manager (East), Callima Inino, commended the finalists for their exceptional performance, resilience, and confidence throughout the contest.

“The mPulse Spelling Bee continues to be an inspiring platform that nurtures literacy, confidence, and ambition among young Nigerians,” Inino said.

He also revealed that the overall winner of the national competition will receive a ₦5 million education grant, a smartphone, and a laptop, in addition to the unique opportunity to serve as the MTN Nigeria CEO for one day and become the mPulse Face of the Year.

The winner’s teacher will be rewarded with ₦500,000, while the school will receive 10 laptops, 10 routers, and a ₦10 million development grant.

The MTN mPulse Spelling Bee, now in its latest edition, continues to underscore MTN’s commitment to empowering young Nigerians through education, innovation, and digital literacy.
