Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Friday received Miss Etiyemonu Esther, a student of Lagos State Model College, Igbokuta, Imota, who emerged as the 2025 Lagos State One-Day Governor after winning the 21st Lagos Spelling Bee Competition.
Esther, whose victory earned her the symbolic leadership role, was accompanied by the One-Day Deputy Governor, Miss Awoyemi Dorcas, and the One-Day Secretary to the State Government, Miss Salami Jumai Olaide. The students were joined by their parents during the courtesy visit.
Commending the initiative, Governor Sanwo-Olu described the One-Day Governor programme as a visionary platform that continues to nurture leadership potential among young people. He noted that the project, launched by the First Lady of the Nation, Oluremi Tinubu, remains a lasting legacy that inspires excellence and civic responsibility among students across the state.
“Miss Esther’s confidence, focus and diligence are remarkable. She embodies the very best of our youth, and I am immensely proud of her achievements,” the Governor stated. “All of Lagos is rooting for her bright future. Congratulations once again.”
The reception underscored Lagos State government’s sustained commitment to promoting academic distinction, leadership development and youth empowerment through structured educational initiatives.
