No fewer than 80 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have been recognised in Lagos State for their outstanding contributions to promoting consumer awareness and educating residents on their rights.
The recognition was organised by the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA), which commended the corps members serving under the Consumer Protection Community Development Service (CDS) group for their dedication to public sensitisation and advocacy across the state.
During the ceremony, the General Manager of LASCOPA, Afolabi Solebo, presented Certificates of Meritorious Service to the first batch of the honoured corps members. He praised their efforts in engaging communities and raising awareness about consumer rights and responsibilities.
Solebo described the corps members’ contributions as significant, noting that their outreach programmes and awareness campaigns have strengthened consumer protection initiatives and helped residents better understand their rights in the marketplace.
The award presentation took place at the NYSC Secretariat in Lagos, where the corps members were commended for their commitment, consistency, and dedication to service. According to the agency, their activities played an important role in expanding the reach of consumer education programmes within local communities.
LASCOPA also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance consumer awareness and safeguard the rights of citizens, while encouraging continued collaboration with youth-driven programmes such as the NYSC.
The recognition underscores the growing impact of corps members in community development efforts and civic education across Lagos State, particularly in areas related to public enlightenment and consumer protection.
