The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming Osun State election, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, has pledged full educational scholarships up to the university level for the children of a woman who lost her life during a recent rainstorm in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
Oyebamiji made the announcement during a condolence visit to the family of the deceased, Mrs. Jemilat Ganiyu, whose death occurred after the heavy rainstorm that caused widespread damage in parts of the state. The APC candidate expressed deep sympathy with the bereaved family, describing the incident as a tragic loss and a painful reminder of the destructive impact of extreme weather events.
As part of his support, Oyebamiji announced that the four children of the late woman would receive scholarships covering their education from their current level through university. The beneficiaries include Tijani Faruk (JSS 2), Tijani Mariam (SS 2), Tijani Fatimah (SS 3), and Tijani Haliah (Primary 6).
In addition to the scholarship pledge, the APC governorship hopeful directed that a special bank account be opened for the children to ensure continuous financial support for their education and welfare. According to him, the initiative is intended to guarantee that the children are not deprived of educational opportunities due to the tragic loss of their mother.
Oyebamiji also offered prayers for the family and urged community members and leaders to continue supporting victims of the rainstorm. He emphasized the importance of collective efforts in helping families recover from disasters and ensuring that affected children are able to pursue their educational aspirations.
The gesture was warmly received by members of the deceased’s family, who expressed appreciation for the support and prayed for the APC candidate’s success in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
The development comes amid growing attention to the welfare of victims of the recent rainstorm in Osogbo, as political leaders and stakeholders visit affected communities to provide relief and support.
