OOU Sets January 11 Deadline for Fees and Registration, Warns No Extension for 2025/2026 Session

The management of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, has announced Sunday, January 11, 2026, as the final deadline for the payment of school fees and completion of registration by all returning students for the 2025/2026 academic session. The directive applies to both full-time and part-time students across all faculties.

The announcement was contained in a circular issued by the Registrar, Dr. Bayo Orukotan, reaffirming the university’s commitment to maintaining a smooth, disciplined, and well-structured academic calendar. The management emphasized that students must complete all payments and registration processes on or before the deadline, noting that no extension will be granted.

“The university wishes to inform all returning students that payment of fees and registration for the 2025/2026 academic session must be concluded not later than Sunday, 11th January, 2026,” the circular stated, urging students to comply strictly in their own interest. Early compliance, the management stressed, will help prevent administrative delays and disruptions to academic activities.

In a firm policy stance, OOU also declared that no Leave of Absence (LOA) applications will be approved after the deadline, except in cases backed by verified medical evidence. The university explained that the decision is aimed at checking abuse of the LOA process and fostering academic discipline.

University officials noted that repeated cases of delayed registration and late leave applications in previous sessions had affected academic planning, examinations, and accreditation processes, making the new directive necessary. While some students welcomed the clarity of the deadline, others appealed for consideration due to economic pressures, especially part-time students balancing work and academics.

Despite the concerns, the university maintained that the directive is not punitive but designed to promote responsibility, stability, and timely decision-making. Students with genuine health challenges will still receive consideration upon proper documentation, the management assured.

The announcement has already triggered increased activity on the university’s payment platforms as students move to meet the deadline and avoid complications. As January 11 approaches, the OOU management urged all returning students to treat the directive with utmost seriousness, warning that failure to comply may result in loss of studentship privileges for the session.
