The Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has screened **175 applicants** for placement under the *Ogunteach Internship Programme*, a state initiative designed to address teacher shortages in public primary schools, especially in rural communities.
The candidates, who met the cut-off mark of **40 and above** in the qualifying examination, participated in the screening exercise at the SUBEB Secretariat, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta. The process focused on verifying credentials and ensuring a transparent selection.
Speaking during the exercise, SUBEB Chairman, **Evangelist Olalekan Ifede**, emphasised that the programme was created to strengthen teaching capacity where it is most needed. He urged applicants to be prepared to serve in underserved areas.
> “Be ready to work in rural areas, not just in urban centres. Nobody will be posted outside Ogun State, but since we are recruiting for our rural schools, it would not make sense to post you where we already have enough teachers,” he said.
The *Ogunteach Internship Programme* forms part of the state government’s broader efforts to enhance access to quality basic education and bridge teacher gaps in local communities.
