OAU Reschedules 2025/2026 Matriculation Ceremony to January 15, 2026

Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, has announced a new date for its 2025/2026 matriculation ceremony, shifting the event from Tuesday, December 16, 2025, to Thursday, January 15, 2026.

In an official notice to the university community, management confirmed that the ceremony will still be held physically and within the same time frame of 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. However, it will now be conducted in carefully structured batches to ensure orderly coordination, proper crowd control, and a smooth flow of activities.

The matriculation will take place at the iconic OAU Amphitheatre and will accommodate both undergraduate and postgraduate students across various faculties.

Under the revised arrangement, Batch A will hold from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., featuring students from the Faculties of Administration, Arts, and Law.
Batch B will follow from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., comprising students from the Faculties of Agriculture, Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Sciences, Dentistry, Education, and Science.
The ceremony will conclude with Batch C from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., involving students from the Faculties of Technology, Computing Science & Engineering, Pharmacy, Social Sciences, and Environmental Design and Management.

According to the university, the staggered scheduling is designed to enhance organization and ensure that all participants enjoy a dignified and memorable event.

The notice also serves as an official invitation to students, staff, and stakeholders, urging newly admitted students to take note of their designated batch and arrive promptly.

Matriculation remains one of the most significant academic traditions at OAU, symbolically welcoming new students into the university community and formally integrating them into its academic and ethical framework.

Fresh students are therefore advised to prepare adequately, follow the approved schedule, and comply with all university instructions for a successful ceremony.
