NYSC Releases Schedule for 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II Orientation Course

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has officially announced the schedule for the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II Orientation Course, providing prospective corps members with key dates for registration, swearing-in, and the commencement of the three-week training programme.

According to a statement issued by the scheme’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, the orientation exercise will be conducted simultaneously across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The NYSC explained that the orientation programme will begin with the reception and registration of prospective corps members from Wednesday, April 22, to midnight on Friday, April 24, 2026.

As part of the schedule, the official swearing-in ceremony for the corps members has been fixed for Friday, April 24, 2026, marking the formal commencement of the mandatory national service year for participants.

The scheme further disclosed that the 21-day orientation course will conclude on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, after which corps members will proceed to their various places of primary assignment across the country.

NYSC authorities advised all prospective corps members mobilised for the batch to carefully review the details contained in their call-up letters and report to their assigned orientation camps within the stipulated period. The scheme also urged participants to strictly comply with camp guidelines and participate fully in all activities throughout the orientation programme.

In addition, the NYSC reiterated its longstanding safety advisory against night travel, urging corps members travelling to orientation camps to break their journeys whenever it is 6:00 p.m. and spend the night in secure locations before continuing the trip the following day.

Suggested safe locations include NYSC lodges, military formations, police stations, or traditional rulers’ palaces, where travellers can seek temporary shelter before proceeding with their journeys.

The NYSC orientation course serves as the first phase of Nigeria’s one-year compulsory national service programme, designed to foster national unity, cultural integration, and youth participation in community development across the country.
