The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) External, with 71.63 per cent of candidates obtaining a minimum of five credits, including English Language and Mathematics.

The results were officially unveiled on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at NECO’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State.

Announcing the release, the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of NECO, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, said the results were processed and released 52 days after the conclusion of the examination, which was conducted nationwide from Wednesday, November 26, to Saturday, December 13, 2025.

According to him, a total of 96,979 candidates registered for the examination, while 95,160 eventually sat for it. Of the candidates who participated, 50,785, representing 53.36 per cent, were male, while 44,375, or 44.63 per cent, were female.

Professor Wushishi disclosed that 68,166 candidates secured five credits, including English Language and Mathematics, translating to 71.63 per cent performance. He added that 82,082 candidates, representing 86.26 per cent, obtained five credits and above irrespective of English Language and Mathematics.

On examination malpractice, the registrar reported that 9,016 candidates were booked for various offences during the examination, compared with 6,160 in 2024, marking an increase of 31.7 per cent.

He further revealed that five supervisors had been recommended for blacklisting for aiding and abetting malpractice. Of the number, two were from the Federal Capital Territory, while one each came from Kano, Adamawa and Ogun states.

Professor Wushishi noted that candidates can now check their results through NECO’s official portal using their result-checker tokens.

Nigeria Education News reports that the release of the 2025 SSCE External results comes months after NECO announced the 2025 SSCE Internal results in September, which recorded comparatively lower performance among candidates who obtained five credits, including English Language and Mathematics.
