The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has extended the registration period for the 2026 National Common Entrance Examination into Technical Colleges, assuring candidates and stakeholders of a smooth and stress-free process nationwide.
The Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of NABTEB, Mr. Aminu Mohammed, announced the extension in a statement issued in Benin on Sunday by the Board’s Deputy Director, Media and Protocol, Mr. Uchechukwu Olisah.
According to him, the board has approved a four-month registration window to ease pressure on candidates and their families. Registration for the examination will now run from January 26 to May 24, 2026, while the entrance examination is scheduled to hold across the country on June 6, 2026.
Mohammed explained that the decision followed the approval of the 2026 examination and registration framework by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa. He said the extended timeline would allow candidates adequate preparation, reduce congestion on the registration platform, and minimise financial and logistical challenges for parents and guardians.
The registrar noted that NABTEB had upgraded its administrative and technological infrastructure to deliver a user-friendly, accessible, and disruption-free registration process.
“NABTEB has put in place comprehensive measures to guarantee a smooth and stress-free registration experience for candidates, parents, guardians and schools, while maintaining the highest standards of examination integrity,” Mohammed said.
He urged prospective candidates to register only through the official NABTEB online portal and warned against patronising unauthorised agents or third-party platforms. He also advised early registration to avoid last-minute difficulties.
Reaffirming the board’s commitment to professionalism and transparency, Mohammed said NABTEB remained focused on expanding access to technical education while safeguarding the credibility of its examinations.
He further encouraged Nigerians to embrace Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), describing it as a pathway to employable skills, entrepreneurship and economic self-reliance, and pledged continued collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education and other stakeholders to strengthen skills-based education and Nigeria’s human capital development.
