The McPherson University community has welcomed back Miss Babatunde Oyindamola Feranmi, a 400-level student, following her successful participation in a prestigious international internship programme in Japan.
Miss Oyindamola was selected for the fully sponsored programme by the Government of Japan under the FY2024 Amendment Co-Creation Type Technical Human Resources Exchange Project. The initiative, organised by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), is designed to strengthen collaboration with the Global South through the exchange of highly skilled professionals, with focus areas in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and technology.
The internship exposed her to advanced training and industry practices in innovation and digital technologies, experience she has pledged to deploy in Nigeria. Speaking during a presentation to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Francis Igbasan, Miss Oyindamola expressed gratitude to the university for providing the academic environment that enabled her to compete successfully with candidates from across the world.
“I am grateful to the University for its support and conducive academic atmosphere which prepared me to stand out among my peers globally,” she said.
Commending her achievement, Professor Igbasan said her selection among thousands of applicants brought honour to McPherson University and reflected the quality of its training and mentorship.
“Your achievement is a testimony to the standard of education and guidance provided by the institution. You are now an ambassador of McPherson University,” the Vice-Chancellor said.
He urged her to apply the skills and knowledge gained in Japan to support institutional development and mentor other students, stressing that her experience should inspire others to pursue excellence and global exposure.
Miss Oyindamola’s participation underscores McPherson University’s commitment to producing globally competitive graduates and encouraging students to explore international learning opportunities. The university continues to promote global partnerships that enhance innovation, research and human capital development.
