Lagos State University (LASU) has announced the commencement of applications for the 2026/2027 student loan scheme administered by the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).
The university disclosed this in a statement published on its official X handle on Sunday, urging eligible students to take advantage of the Federal Government’s intervention and submit their applications before the December 31, 2026 deadline.
According to LASU, the NELFUND application portal opened on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, and will remain open until Thursday, December 31, 2026.
The university said applicants must be duly registered students of LASU and possess valid Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) registration numbers, National Identification Numbers (NIN) and Bank Verification Numbers (BVN).
It also advised students to ensure that their matriculation numbers, departments and other institutional records are correctly uploaded and updated on the university portal.
LASU stressed that students must verify their JAMB details before proceeding with their applications on the NELFUND portal.
“Students are strongly advised to verify and update their institutional and JAMB records before proceeding with their applications on the NELFund portal,” the university said.
It explained that the verification was necessary to prevent disqualification or delays that could arise from discrepancies or mismatched information.
The university further advised students who encounter difficulties while verifying or updating their records to visit the Directorate of ICT or Special Interventions for assistance.
LASU urged all eligible students to complete their applications within the stipulated period and ensure that their records are accurate before submission.
