JAMB Targets Transparent Admissions as 2026 Policy Meeting Holds May 11

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced May 11, 2026, as the date for its annual policy meeting on admissions, where key decisions—including the minimum cut-off marks for the 2026 admission cycle—will be determined.

The Board’s Public Communications Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, disclosed this in a statement shared via his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Sunday.

According to him, the high-level meeting will take place in Abuja and will convene major stakeholders across Nigeria’s tertiary education system to deliberate on admission guidelines for the 2026/2027 academic session.

The venue has been fixed at the Body of Benchers Auditorium, Plot 688, Institute and Research District, FCC Phase III, Jabi, Abuja.

Benjamin noted that the meeting will feature policy directions from the Minister of Education, Maruf Olatunji Alausa, who is expected to outline the Federal Government’s priorities for the upcoming admissions cycle.

He described the annual policy meeting as a critical platform where stakeholders agree on minimum Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) scores, as well as admission procedures and compliance measures for institutions nationwide.

Participants expected at the meeting include Vice-Chancellors, Rectors, Provosts, Registrars, and admissions officers from tertiary institutions, alongside regulatory agencies such as the National Universities Commission (NUC), National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

Other stakeholders billed to deliver goodwill messages include the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

In addition, the event will host the 6th edition of the National Tertiary Admissions Performance-Merit Awards (NATAP-M), an initiative aimed at promoting transparency, compliance, and excellence in the admission process across Nigeria’s higher institutions.

The annual gathering is expected to set the tone for a coordinated and policy-driven 2026/2027 admission exercise, while reinforcing adherence to established guidelines within the education sector.
