The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has explained why some candidates checking their 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results are seeing the message “No Result Yet.”

According to the examination body, the notification largely affects underage candidates, whose results have been deliberately withheld pending further consideration.

JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, said the Board had received numerous inquiries from concerned parents and candidates who assumed the message indicated a technical fault in the result-checking system. However, he clarified that the status simply reflects the eligibility status of those candidates.

He explained that results for underage candidates have not yet been released, and when such candidates attempt to check their scores, the system automatically returns the message “No Result Yet.”

The Board reiterated that, in line with its established guidelines, only candidates who will be at least 16 years old by September 30, 2026, are eligible to sit for the UTME and be considered for admission into tertiary institutions.

Nevertheless, JAMB noted that underage candidates may still be considered under a special “exceptional ability” category. To qualify, such candidates must score 320 or above in the UTME and subsequently achieve at least 80 per cent in additional screening assessments before being considered for admission.

The Board stressed that the withheld results do not indicate an error in the examination process but are part of measures to ensure strict compliance with admission regulations and age requirements for university entry.

JAMB therefore urged candidates and parents to remain calm and avoid misinformation, assuring that further updates regarding the status of affected candidates will be communicated through its official channels.
