The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially adjusted the timetable for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) processes, urging candidates nationwide to take note of the new dates and begin preparations early.
According to the updated schedule, the sale of UTME application forms will begin on January 19, 2026, and close on February 26, 2026. Registration for UTME candidates at accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres will run from January 26, 2026, to February 28, 2026, which is also the final deadline for registration.
Candidates wishing to participate in the mock examination must select the option on or before February 16, 2026, while the mock test has been scheduled for March 28, 2026. The main UTME examination will hold nationwide from April 16 to April 25, 2026.
For Direct Entry applicants, the sale and registration of DE forms will commence on March 2, 2026, and close on April 25, 2026.
JAMB reiterated that all candidates must possess a valid National Identification Number (NIN), create a JAMB profile, purchase an e-PIN, and complete registration strictly at accredited CBT centres. The UTME registration fee remains approximately ₦4,700, excluding additional support or mock exam charges.
The examination body advised prospective candidates to register early to avoid last-minute pressure, ensure accuracy of personal details, and comply with all eligibility requirements of their preferred institutions. It further assured that adequate support systems have been put in place to guarantee a smooth and efficient registration process.
The UTME remains a compulsory requirement for admission into Nigerian universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education. Candidates are encouraged to prepare adequately and stay informed through the official JAMB website and accredited CBT centres.
