Google Offers Free Access to Advanced AI Tools for University Students Across Africa

In a groundbreaking move to accelerate digital education in Africa, Google has launched a new initiative granting university students in six African countries free access to its premium AI suite, Google AI Pro, for 12 months.

The offer, available to eligible students aged 18 and above in Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Rwanda, South Africa, and Zimbabwe, will provide access to Google’s most advanced AI model, Gemini 2.5 Pro, enabling learners to enhance their research, creativity, and academic productivity.

The Google AI Pro plan delivers a comprehensive toolkit tailored for academic and creative excellence, combining AI-powered research support, productivity tools, and large-scale cloud storage.

1. Supercharged Learning and Research:
Gemini 2.5 Pro helps students summarise academic papers, debug code, and receive guided explanations for complex problems, streamlining research and study sessions.

2. Time-Saving Efficiency:
Through its Deep Research feature, the platform can generate detailed, cited reports from hundreds of verified web sources within minutes—revolutionizing how students approach long-form essays and dissertations.

3. Enhanced Organization and Creativity:
With NotebookLM, users can seamlessly organize notes and connect ideas, while Veo 3 enables instant video generation from text or images, offering students new ways to deliver presentations and creative projects.

4. Massive Storage:
