OYEE-EKITI — The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Ekiti State, has cautioned the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) against staging any form of protest or gathering within the university premises, describing such moves as unauthorised, unnecessary, and unacceptable.

In a strongly worded statement titled “Letter of Resistance and Warning Against NYCN Protest Within FUOYE”, jointly signed by the SUG President, Adio James; General Secretary, Alao Ayorinde; and Public Relations Officer, Abiola David, the union reaffirmed that FUOYE remains an academic environment dedicated to learning, research, and development—not a platform for political mobilisation or external agitation.

“The attention of the FUOYE SUG has been drawn to the proposed protest being incubated by the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) within or around our university premises,” the statement read. “The Federal University Oye-Ekiti is not a ground for political mobilisation or external agitation. Therefore, no external body or association is permitted to conduct protests or gatherings within the institution without the explicit approval of the Students’ Union Government.”

The union warned that any attempt to ignore this directive would be considered a deliberate act of provocation and trespass, capable of disrupting the peace, order, and stability currently prevailing in the university.

It further stated that the SUG, in collaboration with the university management and relevant security agencies, would take necessary disciplinary and legal measures to safeguard the sanctity of the institution.

The SUG advised the NYCN to immediately suspend all mobilisation plans within or around the university and instead adopt lawful and peaceful avenues for engagement.
