FUOYE Law Student Favour Awolana Wins Prestigious Morehead-Cain Global Fellowship

A 400-level Law student of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Favour Temidara Awolana, has made history by becoming one of only twelve recipients worldwide of the highly competitive Morehead-Cain Foundation Global Fellowship, a leadership programme that recognises exceptional students with outstanding academic and leadership potential.

Valued at approximately $100,000, the fellowship will enable Awolana to undertake a fully funded one-year global experience at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the United States. The programme provides opportunities for academic research, internships, international travel, leadership training, and mentorship from a global network of over 3,500 distinguished alumni affiliated with the foundation.

Officials at FUOYE described the accomplishment as a historic milestone for the institution, noting the fellowship’s rigorous selection process, which attracts top-tier applicants from universities around the world.

Reacting to the achievement, the Vice-Chancellor, Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole, congratulated Awolana, commending her dedication to academic excellence and leadership. “We are immensely proud of Favour Awolana for achieving this remarkable milestone. This fellowship reflects her academic excellence and leadership potential, and it also highlights the quality of education and mentorship available at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti,” he said.

The Morehead-Cain Foundation Global Fellowship is designed to develop young leaders for global impact by exposing them to diverse cultural, academic, and professional environments. Fellows engage in research, leadership development, and cross-continental exchanges aimed at broadening perspectives on global challenges.

University sources added that Awolana’s selection is expected to enhance FUOYE’s international visibility and inspire other students to pursue competitive global opportunities in academics, research, and leadership.
