The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has released the full programme of activities for its 33rd Convocation Ceremony, scheduled to hold from Friday, January 23 to Saturday, January 31, 2026.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olusola Babatunde Kehinde, on behalf of the Governing Council, Senate, Management, staff and students, formally invited stakeholders, alumni, parents, guardians and friends of the university to participate in the week-long celebration.
According to a statement by the institution, the activities will begin on Friday, January 23, with a Jumat Service at the University Mosque by 1:00 p.m. This will be followed by an Interdenominational Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, January 25, at the Chapel of Grace, FUNAAB, by 10:00 a.m.
A Press Conference is scheduled for Wednesday, January 28, at the Red Chamber by 10:00 a.m., while the commissioning of projects across designated locations on campus will take place on Friday, January 30, by 10:00 a.m. The Convocation Lecture, a major highlight of the ceremony, will also hold the same day at the Red Chamber by 3:00 p.m.
The grand finale comes up on Saturday, January 31, with the award of first and higher degrees, postgraduate diplomas and prizes at the Professor Oluwafemi Balogun Ceremonial Building by 10:00 a.m.
The Convocation Lecture, titled “Integrating Agriculture and Youth Development: A New Paradigm for the Nigerian Education System,” will be delivered by Mr. Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, CFR, Chairman of Access Holdings Plc.
Aig-Imoukhuede, a renowned banker, investor and philanthropist, previously served as Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank Plc between 2002 and 2013, where he spearheaded the transformation of the institution into one of Nigeria’s leading financial services groups.
The lecture is expected to provoke conversations around agriculture-driven education, youth empowerment and sustainable development, in line with FUNAAB’s mandate of producing globally competitive graduates and advancing national development.
