The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, has held a strategic meeting with leaders of the Students’ Union Government (SUG) and the Student Integrity Club (SIC) to address key issues affecting students ahead of the new academic session.
The meeting, which took place at the New Senate Building, centred on student registration, commencement of online lectures, and hostel accommodation arrangements.
Prof. Abdul Rahman reaffirmed that hostel spaces would only be allocated to students who have fully paid their school fees. He urged those yet to complete their payments to do so without delay in order to secure accommodation, stressing that academic activities have already begun with virtual lectures now in progress.
Expressing concern over the low number of students who have completed their registration, the Vice-Chancellor described the situation as “worrisome” and appealed to students to visit the University’s official website and the FULafia Bulletin for verified information and updates.
In response, the SUG President, Comrade Ishaq Ishaq Abubakar, pledged to intensify awareness campaigns to encourage more students to register and attend lectures. The SIC Vice President, Abubakar Dahiru Ladan, also assured the Management of enhanced student sensitisation efforts.
Top University officials present at the meeting included the Registrar, Dr. Nuradeen Abdu; Bursar, Dr. Daniel Wilson; Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Abdulrazaq Baba Abdulrahman; and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic Affairs-designate), Prof. Ilemona Adofu.
FULafia further announced that the hostel accommodation portal will open in the first week of January 2026 for the 2025/2026 academic session, adding that the institution will operate a hybrid learning model, with the first six weeks of lectures to hold online.
Students have been urged to comply strictly with the approved registration timeline to avoid penalties and to ensure access to both virtual classes and campus facilities. They are encouraged to regularly check the University’s official platforms for credible information.
With these measures, FULafia reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining academic excellence and fostering a conducive learning environment that blends digital innovation with physical academic engagement.
