The Federal Government Girls’ College (FGGC) Oyo Class of 1995 has commemorated its 30th anniversary in grand style by donating brand-new dining furniture to the school — a gesture that blends nostalgia with a deep sense of purpose and impact.
The donation, made as part of the alumnae’s “30 Years of Growth & Grace” celebration, was inaugurated by the Class of 1995 President, Dr. Oladebo Dapo-Ojo, during a four-day event held at the school.
More than a symbolic act of remembrance, the project significantly improved students’ welfare by transforming the school’s dining hall into a modern, comfortable, and welcoming space. The once-worn furniture has been replaced with sleek new tables and chairs, creating a cleaner and more conducive environment for meals and social interactions.
For the over 650 students of FGGC Oyo, mealtimes have now become moments of relaxation, camaraderie, and pride — an experience that reflects the alumnae’s enduring commitment to uplifting the next generation.
Teachers and school administrators lauded the initiative, describing it as a powerful demonstration of gratitude and community spirit. The Chairman of the school’s Parent-Teacher Association, Engr. Olalekan K.G., praised the donors for their foresight and generosity.
“Beyond the comfort these dining sets bring, your contribution teaches today’s students the importance of gratitude, service, and giving back,” he said.
The celebration featured a series of activities that underscored the alumnae’s holistic approach to impact. Over 1,300 students received gifts, while interactive sessions were held on essential life skills and awareness topics, including general health and hygiene, cyber safety, abuse prevention, security awareness, and financial literacy. The event concluded with special prayers for the students’ continued success and well-being.
The reunion also brought together alumnae from across Nigeria and the diaspora in an atmosphere filled with reflection, laughter, and renewed purpose. Chairperson of the 30th Anniversary Planning Committee, Dr. Olamide Thompson Odeneye, described the milestone as a “heartwarming reminder of shared history, enduring sisterhood, and the power of collective action.”
