The Federal Government has announced the commencement of applications for the 2025/2026 Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) scholarship scheme, targeting students in engineering and other oil and gas–related disciplines across Nigerian universities.
According to the PTDF, the application portal officially opened on Monday, April 20, 2026, and will remain accessible for six weeks, closing on Friday, May 29, 2026. Applicants are expected to submit their forms strictly within the stipulated timeframe.
The scholarship programme is open to qualified undergraduate and postgraduate students studying relevant courses in Nigerian tertiary institutions, particularly those aligned with the country’s petroleum and energy sector development goals.
Interested candidates are required to apply online via the official PTDF scholarship portal and complete a structured registration process, which includes account creation, login, and identity verification steps before submission.
The Fund explained that the scheme is designed to support human capacity development in the oil and gas industry by providing financial assistance for academic training in key technical fields.
Officials noted that the programme remains part of the government’s broader strategy to strengthen indigenous expertise and improve Nigeria’s competitiveness in the global energy sector. Successful applicants will benefit from structured academic support aimed at improving research and professional capacity in engineering and related disciplines.
The PTDF scholarship continues to be one of the Federal Government’s flagship education interventions, supporting students in both in-country and specialised technical training programmes.
