The National President of the Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti Alumni Association, AbdulRafiu Badru, has donated a solar inverter system to the institution’s Senior Staff Club as part of efforts to improve the working environment through sustainable energy solutions.
Badru, who was represented at the inauguration by the association’s National Publicity Secretary, Busayo Adeyemi, said the intervention reflects the alumni body’s commitment to supporting the development of their alma mater and enhancing staff welfare.
According to him, the solar installation will serve as an alternative source of electricity for the club, helping to address challenges associated with unstable public power supply while ensuring smoother operations.
“This initiative demonstrates our commitment to supporting the institution and enhancing staff welfare. The solar inverter will provide an alternative power source for the club,” he stated during the unveiling ceremony.
Speaking at the event, the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti, Dr Temitope Alake, commended the alumni association for the gesture, noting that the solar system would significantly reduce the institution’s reliance on unreliable grid electricity and help cut operational costs.
Alake also called for deeper collaboration between the institution and its alumni body, proposing the establishment of a well-equipped mini-mart around the Annex Hostel area. He suggested that such a facility could be jointly managed by the alumni association and the polytechnic management to better serve the needs of staff and students.
In his remarks, the President of the Senior Staff Club, Olaniyi Adeboye, described the donation as timely and impactful, adding that the solar inverter would greatly improve the club’s activities and provide a more conducive environment for members.
The commissioning ceremony attracted staff members, alumni and other stakeholders, and featured the official unveiling and inspection of the newly installed solar power system.
