The Governing Council of the Federal College of Education (FCE), Okene, Kogi State, has approved the appointment of Dr. Ibrahim Ismaila Mosimabale as the substantive Provost of the institution. His appointment is scheduled to take effect from September 27, 2025.

The announcement, contained in an official statement issued by the College’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Jibril Abdulrahaman, follows the conclusion of a rigorous selection process by the Council.

Born on June 30, 1968, Dr. Mosimabale hails from Ogori in the Ogori/Magongo Local Government Area of Kogi State. He brings over three decades of academic experience and institutional leadership to the role, with a career deeply rooted in education, administration, and professional service.

He began his academic journey at Ilorin Teachers’ College and Abdul Aziz Atta Memorial College, Okene, before proceeding to obtain the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) in 1991. Between 1993 and 1997, he studied at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, earning a Bachelor of Education in Social Studies. He later advanced his academic pursuit with a Master’s degree and a PhD in Social Studies from the University of Benin in 2008 and 2018, respectively.

A seasoned educator and administrator, Mosimabale currently serves on the institution’s Governing Council as an Academic Board representative and is the Director of Examinations. He is also a Chief Lecturer in the Department of Social Studies, where he has mentored countless students and contributed significantly to curriculum development.

Beyond his academic credentials, Dr. Mosimabale is an active member of several professional organisations. These include the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), the Social Studies Association of Nigeria (SOSAN), and the International Centre for Science, Humanities and Education Research—reflecting his strong commitment to advancing educational excellence and professional ethics.

“The appointment of Dr. Mosimabale follows a diligent and transparent selection process by the Governing Council,” the statement from the college noted. “His extensive academic experience, administrative competence, and dedication to the growth of the institution make him a natural fit for the role.”

With this appointment, expectations are high among stakeholders that Dr. Mosimabale will steer FCE Okene into a new phase of academic growth, staff development, and institutional innovation.
