The decision was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the Head of the university's Public Relations Unit, Abubakar Ibrahim, on behalf of the Registrar, Isyaku Adamu.

According to the statement, the sanctions were imposed in line with the institution's Examination Regulations as contained in the Students' Handbook.

"The Senate of the university at its 66th statutory meeting held on Wednesday, 17th and Thursday, 18th June 2026 approved the recommendations of the Senate Committee on Examination Misconduct arising from the Second Semester 2024/2025 Examination," the statement read.

Besides the expulsions, the Senate approved the rustication of 18 students for various examination-related offences, while 22 others received warning letters after being found guilty of lesser violations.

The university also disclosed that one student, Rukayya Ahmad Zukuri, was cleared after a review of her case found insufficient evidence to warrant disciplinary action.

Reaffirming its commitment to maintaining high academic standards, the university stressed that examination malpractice would not be tolerated and urged students to strictly comply with all examination rules and regulations.

The institution noted that the disciplinary measures were aimed at preserving the credibility of its examinations and safeguarding the integrity of its academic programmes.
