The Ekiti State University (EKSU) community has showered praise on one of its distinguished alumni, Barrister Tope Adebayo, for his exceptional generosity and enduring commitment to academic excellence.

Barr. Adebayo, a renowned legal practitioner and celebrated EKSU alumnus, has raised his Endowment Award for the Best Graduating Student in Law from ₦250,000 to ₦1,000,000 annually. In a further demonstration of his dedication to nurturing talent, he also introduced a new ₦1,000,000 annual award for the Best Graduating Student in the entire university, beginning with the March 2026 Convocation Ceremony.

The announcement was made by the Secretary of the Endowment Funds Committee, Mr. Taiwo Okunuga, on behalf of the Chairman, Dr. Jide Olufuyi, who described the development as a landmark gesture that strengthens EKSU’s mission to reward excellence and promote a culture of merit.

“Barrister Adebayo’s magnanimity reflects the true spirit of alumni loyalty and dedication. His continuous support elevates the prestige of EKSU’s awards and motivates students to aim higher in their academic pursuits,” Okunuga said.

He added that the enhanced award and new university-wide prize would foster healthy academic competition, inspire diligence, and further entrench EKSU’s reputation for producing high-achieving graduates.

Barr. Adebayo, a distinguished member of the EKSU Hall of Fame, is widely recognized for his passion for education, leadership, and philanthropy. Over the years, he has championed numerous initiatives that promote learning, human development, and social impact across Nigeria.

The University community described his gesture as a testament to his belief in the transformative power of education and his desire to give back to the institution that helped shape his career.

On behalf of the committee, Dr. Olufuyi commended Barr. Adebayo’s unwavering support, noting that his contribution underscores the critical role of alumni partnerships in sustaining academic excellence and institutional development.
