EduTV Nigeria, in collaboration with Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) and the Great Ife Students’ Union, will host an Inter-Faculty Debate Competition on Friday, 30 January 2026, focusing on one of Nigeria’s most critical public policy issues—tax reform. The event is proudly sponsored by Moniepoint, Trumax, Kejiayok chemicals, and R2P Connect.

The debate, set to commence at 11:00 a.m. at Oduduwa Hall, OAU, Ile-Ife, will feature students from across the university’s faculties discussing the theme:
“Tax Reform: A Pathway to National Economic Growth or a Strategy for Political Power Centralization?”
The event is designed to foster intellectual engagement, promote evidence-based reasoning, and encourage informed participation in national conversations on economic governance. By situating fiscal policy within an academic framework, the debate aims to bridge classroom learning with practical policy analysis.
The Vice-Chancellor of OAU, Prof. Simeon Bamire, will serve as Chief Host, joined by Adelani David O., President of the Great Ife Students’ Union, and Femi Oluwaleyimu, CEO of EduTV Nigeria, along with members of the university community.
To reward excellence, cash prizes will be awarded to the top-performing faculties: ₦100,000 for the winner, ₦50,000 for the first runner-up, and ₦30,000 for the second runner-up.
This debate is part of EduTV Nigeria’s broader mission to promote intellectual empowerment, leadership development, and policy literacy among Nigerian youths through educational media and structured academic engagement.
Students, faculty members, and the public are encouraged to attend what promises to be a rigorous and thought-provoking exchange of ideas.
