EduTV Nigeria, in collaboration with Adeleke University and the Adeleke University Students’ Association, has concluded arrangements to host a high-level Inter-Faculty Debate Competition aimed at interrogating Nigeria’s deepening security challenges through intellectual engagement rather than rhetoric.
The event, scheduled for Friday, 27 February 2026, by 11:00 a.m., at the Theatre Arts Hall, Adeleke University, Ede, Osun State, will draw participants from across faculties of the institution into a structured exchange on a question that continues to shape Nigeria’s future.
The debate is themed:
“Resolving Nigeria’s Insecurity: Is Military Intervention More Effective Than Socio-Economic Reforms?”
At a time when the nation grapples with insurgency, banditry, kidnapping and social dislocation, the organisers believe the university must serve as a laboratory for ideas, not merely a spectator to events. The competition is therefore conceived as an academic exercise in reasoning, persuasion and policy reflection, where young Nigerians are trained to confront national dilemmas with discipline and depth.
EduTV Nigeria’s initiative goes beyond entertainment. It situates security discourse within a scholarly framework, encouraging students to examine the roots of violence, the limits of force, and the enduring value of economic and social inclusion in sustaining peace.
The Vice-Chancellor of Adeleke University, Prof. Solomon Ajayi Adebola, will serve as Chief Host, supported by the President of the Students’ Association, Toofeek Abiodun, and the Chief Executive Officer of EduTV Nigeria, Femi Oluwaleyimu, alongside members of the university’s academic and administrative leadership.
To reinforce excellence and competitive spirit, cash awards have been instituted: ₦100,000 for the winning faculty, ₦50,000 for the first runner-up, and ₦30,000 for the second runner-up.
According to the organisers, the Adeleke University edition forms part of EduTV Nigeria’s expanding campus engagement programme designed to cultivate articulate, policy-conscious and leadership-driven youths capable of shaping Nigeria’s democratic and developmental future.
Students, staff and the wider public are invited to witness what promises to be a sober, stimulating and consequential exchange of ideas on a matter central to the survival of the Nigerian state.
