The Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary of Education District VI, Mrs. Mojisola Christiana Yusuff, has called for stronger collaboration with traditional rulers and community stakeholders to address rising cases of indiscipline in public schools across the district.
Mrs. Yusuff made the appeal during a courtesy visit to the Osolo of Isolo, His Royal Majesty, Oba Isa Abiodun Olakunle Faronbi Shekoni, where she led members of her management team to deepen cooperation between the education sector and the Isolo community.
Expressing concern over growing incidents of student misconduct, particularly within the Okota school cluster, the Tutor-General noted that although the government continues to provide a conducive and secure learning environment, sustainable discipline cannot be achieved without the active participation of parents, traditional institutions and community leaders.
She emphasised that maintaining order in schools is a shared responsibility and urged community stakeholders to partner with Education District VI in restoring discipline and safeguarding public school facilities.
“We are calling on the community to join hands with us in bringing sanity back to our schools. Discipline is a collective responsibility, and we need everyone’s involvement to create a safe, secure and productive learning environment,” Mrs. Yusuff said.
In his response, Oba Faronbi Shekoni reaffirmed the palace’s commitment to education and community development. He acknowledged the existing cooperation between the Isolo community and the education district and pledged to mobilise parents and relevant stakeholders to tackle challenges of indiscipline and security in schools.
The monarch also raised concerns over encroachment on school lands in the Okota area and assured the district of the palace’s support in promoting regular communication and coordinated action to address the issues.
The visit marked a renewed partnership between Education District VI and the Isolo community, aimed at fostering a more disciplined, secure and supportive educational environment for students across the district.
