The Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo State, has appointed Associate Professor Sikiru Morakinyo Raimi as its new Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) for a two-year tenure.
The appointment was approved by the institution’s Governing Council on Friday, June 19, 2026, and takes immediate effect, according to a statement issued by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mrs. Olubunmi Siju Asunmo.
Dr Raimi, 66, currently serves in the Department of Biology and Integrated Science, where he also heads the department—a role he has held since the institution transitioned into a university in 2023.
In a statement released by the university’s Media and Public Relations Officer, Wale Adeoye, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olanrewaju Olaniyan, described the appointment as a strong endorsement of the council’s confidence in Raimi’s leadership capacity and academic contributions.
“The approval of the recommendation of the University Senate on your appointment by the Governing Council was a reflection of the Council’s belief in your delivery,” the Vice-Chancellor said. “I welcome you on board into the university administration and expect you to contribute your quota as an alumnus, academic and administrator. Congratulations, and here is wishing you a successful tenure.”
Over the years, Dr Raimi has built a reputation within the institution’s governance structure, having previously served on the Governing Council of the former college. He has also chaired several key committees, including the Results Computation Committee and the 2026 Council and Senate Retreat, and represented the Senate on the institution’s inaugural Governing Council after its upgrade to university status.
An accomplished academic, Raimi has published more than 70 scholarly works, including journal articles, conference papers, textbooks, a sole-authored book, and four co-authored publications. He has also participated in over 40 academic conferences both within and outside Nigeria.
He is a member of several professional bodies, including the Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (Science Teachers Association of Nigeria) and the Nigeria Football Referees Association (Nigeria Football Referees Association).
