Discipline Tightened at CUST as Students Face Expulsion, Rustication

The management of Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUST), Osara, Kogi State, has expelled four undergraduate students and rusticated another over alleged cases of misconduct, including cyber offences, physical assault, and other violations of the institution’s regulations.

The disciplinary actions followed investigations by the university’s Students’ Disciplinary Committee, with the recommendations subsequently ratified at the institution’s 30th Regular Senate Meeting held on April 29, 2026.

In separate letters signed by the Deputy Registrar, Academic Affairs, Eli Gbadafu, the university confirmed the expulsion of two female students — Ezekiel Precious Omeneke, a 200-level Economics student, and Aku Joy Chinyere, a 200-level Accounting student — over alleged involvement in lesbianism.

The institution also expelled Musa Abdulhakeem Onimisi, a 200-level Petroleum and Gas Engineering student, over alleged physical assault and stabbing of a fellow student.

Another student, Dominion Kolade A., a 200-level Physiotherapy student, was expelled for allegedly cloning and circulating photographs of two female students without their consent, an action described as a serious breach of digital ethics and institutional rules.

In a related decision, Agbakaru Kosikochukwu, a 200-level Radiography student, was rusticated for one academic session for alleged involvement in fighting and physical assault.

The university management stated that the sanctions were part of ongoing efforts to enforce discipline, promote responsible conduct, and safeguard a secure academic environment. It reiterated its zero-tolerance policy for behaviours capable of undermining the institution’s values and standards.

Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Abdulrahman Asipita Salawu, commended the disciplinary committee for conducting what he described as a thorough and fair investigation process. He reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to producing graduates who excel in both academic performance and character development.

The management further cautioned students against actions that could jeopardise their academic future, stressing that the university would continue to apply its regulations firmly and consistently.
