Caleb University has appointed Foluke Adeboye, wife of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), as its new chancellor, the institution has announced.

The governing council confirmed her elevation in a statement issued following the university’s 15th convocation ceremony held on February 18, where she also received an honorary Doctor of Humanity (Honoris Causa) degree in recognition of her contributions to education, mentorship and character formation.

In unveiling the appointment, the Vice-Chancellor, Olalekan Asikhia, described Adeboye’s chancellorship as more than a ceremonial role, but a symbolic embodiment of moral authority and spiritual ethos that aligns with the university’s mission to integrate scholarship with character development.

“Pastor Foluke Adeboye’s values and leadership will strengthen the institution’s principles,” Asikhia said, noting that her extensive work in youth mentorship, family values and moral formation positions her to provide guidance and support to the university community.

As chancellor, Adeboye is expected to preside over convocations, confer degrees, uphold institutional traditions and serve as a custodian of the university’s core values. Her appointment is also anticipated to enhance Caleb University’s networks with faith-based and humanitarian organisations, as well as increase its appeal for strategic partnerships and philanthropic support.

The convocation event celebrated the graduation of 1,924 students, including 96 first-class honours and 22 PhD recipients, underscoring the institution’s academic progress and community impact.
