Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has announced plans to construct **500 housing units** for its staff, in what is described as one of the most ambitious welfare projects in the institution’s history.

The Vice-Chancellor, **Professor Haruna Musa**, disclosed this during the university’s **2nd Registry Roundtable Discussion** held at the Senate Chamber last week. He noted that accommodation has been a lingering challenge for decades and assured that his administration is determined to address it.

According to him, negotiations with the **Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN)** are at an advanced stage, with a memorandum of understanding expected to be signed soon to pave the way for construction.

> “This housing project is a major step toward improving staff welfare and boosting productivity. We are committed to ensuring that members of our university community live in decent and affordable accommodation,” Musa stated.

The initiative is one of the first major milestones of Professor Musa’s administration, coming less than a month after he assumed office as Vice-Chancellor.
