The Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa) has commissioned a state-of-the-art, 500-capacity lecture theatre and four boreholes at Adamawa State University, Mubi, under its Tertiary Education Grant Scheme valued at ₦350 million.
The new facility, designed to close infrastructure gaps and promote quality education, reflects ASR Africa’s continued commitment to strengthening tertiary education systems across Nigeria and Africa.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Augustine Clement, lauded ASR Africa and its Chairman, Abdul Samad Rabiu, for their “visionary philanthropy and consistent investment in the nation’s educational development.”
“The university is thankful to ASR Africa and its chairman for this laudable donation. We will put the lecture theatre to immediate use for the benefit of our students and lecturers,” Clement stated.
In his remarks, Dr. Ubon Udoh, Managing Director of ASR Africa, described the project as a fulfillment of the organisation’s pledge to enhance access to quality infrastructure in education, health, and social development.
“Today’s commissioning is a testament to ASR Africa’s mandate of delivering on its promises to beneficiaries. It also underscores our Chairman’s passion for supporting education and sustainable development across Africa,” Udoh said.
Representing the ASR Africa Chairman, Dr. Idi Hong, Director of Government Relations at BUA Group, expressed appreciation to the university management for their cooperation and commitment during the project’s execution.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State, who was joined by Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State, commended the gesture, describing it as “commendable and worthy of emulation.”
“This donation by ASR Africa could not have come at a better time. It will provide our students with a more conducive learning environment, improve access to potable water, and enhance teaching and research in the university,” Fintiri stated.
The ASR Africa Tertiary Education Grant Scheme is part of a broader initiative to invest in high-impact projects that strengthen educational institutions across the continent.
