The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has inaugurated the new Governing Council of the Redeemer’s College of Technology and Management (RECTEM), Redemption City, Ogun State.
Adeboye, represented by the RCCG National Overseer, Pastor Sunday Akande, inaugurated the council on Friday at the Conference Room of the RCCG National Secretariat.
RECTEM is a faith-based polytechnic established and promoted by the RCCG as part of its educational initiatives, with a focus on technical, vocational and management education.
The newly inaugurated Governing Council is chaired by Prof. Olufunke Akinkurolere, a former Rector of the Ogun State Institute of Technology.
Other members of the council include Emmanuel Emefienim, who serves as Vice Chairman, and Olowookere Samuel, who was appointed Secretary.
The Acting Rector of RECTEM, Dr Oladunni Izobo-Martins, welcomed the inauguration, expressing confidence that the new council would provide the strategic leadership needed to consolidate the institution’s achievements and drive further development.
Izobo-Martins identified the successful accreditation of RECTEM’s programmes by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) as one of the institution’s major recent milestones.
She said the inauguration came at a crucial period as the institution seeks to strengthen its academic programmes, upgrade infrastructure, build staff capacity and position itself as a leading institution for technical, vocational and management education.
“The inauguration of the council comes at an important time as RECTEM seeks to strengthen its academic programmes, improve infrastructure, enhance staff capacity and position itself as a leading institution for technical, vocational and management education.”
The Acting Rector also commended the Transition Committee led by Akande for its contributions to the institution, describing its efforts as instrumental to ensuring an orderly transition and supporting the college’s development.
Speaking at the inauguration, the new Governing Council Chairperson expressed appreciation for the confidence placed in the council and pledged that its members would work closely with the management and other stakeholders to advance RECTEM’s mandate.
Akinkurolere stressed the importance of effective governance, accountability and academic excellence, while also highlighting staff development, infrastructure improvement, prudent resource management and sustainable institutional growth as key priorities for the council.
