Abuja – The Accord Party has dismissed reports of a parallel governorship primary in Osun State as a politically motivated stunt, affirming that Governor Ademola Adeleke remains committed to governance and undistracted by opposition maneuvering ahead of the forthcoming election.

In a statement issued Monday from its national secretariat in Abuja, the party described the alleged parallel primary as a “political charade” orchestrated by opportunists allegedly backed by unsettled opposition figures. The statement was signed by Joseph Omorogbe, National Publicity Secretary of Accord, who spoke on behalf of the party’s national leadership.

“The national leadership of Accord is on notice of the charade called the parallel governorship primary in Osun State staged by some fun-seeking fellows making a mockery of the nation’s democracy,” the statement read.

Accord emphasized that the purported exercise lacked both legal standing and political credibility, calling it a calculated attempt to mislead the public and create a false sense of crisis. The party noted that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had disowned the exercise, declaring it unauthorized and of no consequence to the upcoming election.

“The sham staged by political hirelings to hoodwink unsuspecting members of the public was swiftly disowned by INEC as null, void, and of no effect,” Omorogbe said.

Reaffirming its focus on governance, Accord stressed that Governor Adeleke remains undistracted, continuing efforts to maintain peace, political stability, and deliver tangible dividends of democracy to Osun residents. “Accord will not dissipate energy responding to frivolities from jokers and political nomads roaming the democratic space in search of elusive greener pastures,” Omorogbe added.

The statement also highlighted Governor Adeleke’s broad public support, describing him as a people-oriented leader whose commitment to citizen welfare has strengthened the party’s appeal. Accord further noted that the party is experiencing a steady influx of new members nationwide, positioning itself as a growing alternative platform for Nigerians seeking political change.

Concluding the statement, the party urged its supporters to remain focused on shared goals and ignore political theatrics designed to divert attention from governance and development.
