The Federal Polytechnic Ayede in Oyo State has formally admitted 705 new students into its academic community during its fourth matriculation ceremony for the 2025/2026 academic session, marking another step in the institution’s steady growth and development.

The ceremony, held at the institution’s temporary campus in Iresa-Pupa, brought together management staff, dignitaries, and the newly admitted students who took the matriculation oath as members of the polytechnic community.

Speaking at the event, the Acting Rector, Dr. Azeez Ojo, described the matriculation ceremony as a significant milestone in the academic journey of the new students and in the history of the institution. He noted that matriculation symbolizes not only formal admission but also a commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and good character.

Dr. Ojo urged the students to make the most of opportunities available in Nigeria’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector, particularly under the Federal Government’s initiatives aimed at strengthening technical education. According to him, acquiring practical and entrepreneurial skills would enable the students to become job creators rather than job seekers after graduation.

He also warned the students against social vices such as cultism, examination malpractice, and drug abuse, stressing that such behaviours could jeopardize their academic progress and future careers. The rector reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to supporting students’ academic and personal development throughout their stay at the polytechnic.

During the ceremony, the institution also acknowledged the Federal Government’s approval of a 20-kilometre road project that will connect the permanent site of the polytechnic, a development expected to ease access to the campus and accelerate infrastructural expansion.

The management further called on stakeholders, corporate organisations, alumni, and philanthropists to support the polytechnic’s expansion drive, emphasizing that partnerships and collective efforts would play a vital role in strengthening the institution’s growth and reputation in Nigeria’s technical education sector.

Federal Polytechnic Ayede, one of Nigeria’s newer federal polytechnics, continues to expand its academic and infrastructural capacity as it seeks to establish itself as a major centre for technical and vocational training in the country.
