Kano — Fifty-eight inmates from custodial facilities under the Kano State Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service are currently participating in the 2025 National Examination Council (NECO) Senior School Certificate Examination.
The Command’s spokesperson, Musbahu K/Nasarawa, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, crediting the development to the Kano State Government’s generous intervention in covering the registration fees for all participating inmates.
“This gesture reflects the State Government’s dedication to the welfare, rehabilitation, reformation, and reintegration of inmates,” K/Nasarawa stated.
He expressed the Command's deep appreciation to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his continuous support, describing the move as a morale booster for inmates and a critical step toward offering them a second chance through education.
“The Nigerian Correctional Service in Kano remains committed to creating an enabling environment for the successful reformation of inmates, and the state government's involvement continues to play a vital role in achieving this mission,” he added.
