Nasarawa, Nigeria – The 2025 Batch C Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) deployed to Nasarawa State kicked off their NYSC Orientation Camp experience with a reflective and inspiring first morning meditation, setting the tone for the beginning of their national service journey.

The early-morning session was filled with gratitude as PCMs gathered to thank God for a new day and the opportunity to serve their nation. During the meditation, officials introduced the PCMs to one of the most cherished aspects of camp life: the NYSC Anthem, teaching the lyrics, rhythm, and the pride associated with singing it during official events.

Camp officials also briefed the PCMs on the structure of morning meditations, emphasizing their role in preparing participants physically, mentally, and morally for the responsibilities ahead. The session included a detailed explanation of the NYSC dress code, highlighting that proper attire reflects discipline and respect. PCMs were guided on correctly wearing each component of their kits and advised against modifications.

Addressing the group, Camp Director Mr. James Ogunleye reminded the PCMs that discipline is the backbone of NYSC. He urged them to obey constituted authority, maintain humility, and interact politely with peers and staff. Mr. Ogunleye also warned against social vices, stressing that the camp is a platform for character building and national integration. He further outlined official communication channels to ensure that all PCMs know where to seek assistance or report concerns.

The session concluded with an interactive segment where PCMs learned the meanings of the various bugle sounds used in the camp, each signaling activities such as wake-up, assembly, parade, meals, and lights-out.

Following the meditation, the corps members proceeded to parade rehearsals in preparation for the upcoming Swearing-In Ceremony, which will formally induct them into the National Youth Service Corps.
