The Zamfara State Government has ordered the immediate suspension of all private construction activities taking place behind the Teacher Training and Development Centre along the Bypass in Gusau.

The directive was issued on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, by the Executive Chairman of the Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board (ZSUBEB), Professor Nasir Garba Anka (Makaman Sokoto South). According to a statement released by the Board’s Public Relations and Information Unit, the move is part of efforts to safeguard public educational infrastructure from illegal encroachment.

Professor Anka stressed that the administration of Governor Dauda Lawal will not condone any form of development carried out without proper authorization from relevant state authorities. He warned that defaulters would face appropriate legal consequences.

“The Zamfara State Government will not tolerate any form of development carried out without due authorization,” the statement read. “Anyone who fails to comply with this directive will be subjected to appropriate legal action in accordance with the law.”

The Teacher Training and Development Centre is regarded as a strategic facility for building the capacity and professional competence of teachers in the state. Authorities noted that encroachment on such public lands poses risks to future expansion plans and compromises the security and integrity of the learning environment.

The directive is widely viewed as a proactive measure to ensure that government-owned lands designated for educational purposes remain protected and are utilized strictly for their intended objectives.
