In a statement by its spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, JAMB announced that its decision was based on the suspension of law programmes in certain institutions by the Council of Legal Education (CLE), the top regulatory body for legal education in Nigeria.
The affected universities include Kwara State University, Malete, Ilorin; Bingham University, Karu; Redeemers University, Ede; Western Delta University, Oghara; and Taraba State University, Jalingo. Others on the list are Arthur Jarvis University, Akpabuyo; Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike; and the Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil.
As a result, JAMB will not process admissions for candidates applying to study Law at these universities for the 2025/2026 academic session. Additionally, the suspension of the Law programme at the Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, will extend for two academic sessions, covering 2025/2026 and 2026/2027.
JAMB also reiterated that it manages the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS), the platform through which tertiary institutions process admissions. Meanwhile, the 2025 UTME, which marks the beginning of the admission process, is set to commence on Friday, January 31.
