Raheemah, who hails from Kaduna State, graduated with a CGPA of 4.68, emerging as the Overall Best Graduating Student in both her department and faculty. Reflecting on breaking the two-year streak of male dominance in First Class honours in Public Administration, she described the feat as empowering.

“It shows that leadership and scholarship are not gender-based; they’re about discipline, drive, and resilience,” she said, adding that she is proud to represent women in academia and student leadership.

On seeing her final results, she expressed gratitude, saying she immediately offered prayers and reflected on the sacrifices and sleepless nights that led to her success. While both her department and faculty honours were significant, she noted that the faculty award felt more personal because it represented her broader academic journey alongside brilliant peers.

She revealed that although she initially applied for Law, Public Administration eventually became a field she embraced passionately, appreciating its relevance to leadership, governance, and national development. Speaking on the rigour of UDUS, she highlighted the intense reading and deep theoretical engagement required, especially while balancing leadership roles such as Sales Director and Financial Secretary of NAPAS.

According to her, intentionality, consistency, time management and prioritisation were key to sustaining her academic excellence. Even when faced with emotional struggles and academic challenges—particularly with Accounting courses in her first year—she remained steadfast through prayer, persistence and seeking help.

In a male-dominated leadership space, Raheemah said she earned respect by letting her work speak for her, remaining diligent, accountable, and committed to adding value. To young women who believe First Class honours are reserved for men, she delivered a powerful message: “Excellence has no gender. You are capable, you are enough, and you can redefine narratives.”

Looking ahead, she envisions a future in civil service, academia, and politics, driven by her passion for public policy, youth development, and ethical governance. She hopes to contribute meaningfully where national decisions are made and lives are transformed.

For students aspiring to excel, she advised starting early, setting realistic goals, seeking mentorship, embracing collaborative learning, and prioritising wellbeing and prayer.

Raheemah’s journey stands as a testament to determination, faith, resilience, and the power of purposeful leadership.
