The visit, hosted by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) of the University, Prof. Koorbanally, marks a significant step in the Polytechnic’s drive to expand its global academic footprint.

During the meeting, both institutions engaged in extensive discussions on collaboration in research development, academic exchange, staff training, and joint capacity-building projects. The initiative is expected to enrich the Polytechnic’s academic environment, granting staff and students access to global opportunities and resources.

One of the major highlights is the proposed exchange programme, which will give staff and students exposure to international learning and research experiences. This is projected to enhance the institution’s competitiveness both locally and internationally.

In addition, the partnership will create avenues for advanced training in pedagogy, research methodologies, and institutional management for both academic and non-academic staff, thereby raising the overall quality of service delivery. Joint research ventures targeting real-life socio-economic challenges in Africa also formed a core part of the discussions.

Rector Alabi, who has consistently emphasized the importance of global engagement, described the partnership as a bold move to align the Polytechnic with international best practices. The Bursar, Mr. Sunday Ademola Afolabi, reinforced the significance of the collaboration, stating that the venture represents an investment in human capital development — the most valuable resource of any institution. He also underscored the management’s commitment to financial prudence and sustainability in pursuing international engagements.

Stakeholders, including staff, alumni, and students, have lauded the initiative, describing it as a timely boost to the Polytechnic’s vision of becoming a globally competitive institution.
