The Ogun State Government has commended the Codix Charity Foundation for constructing and upgrading educational facilities at Isanbi Comprehensive Secondary School in Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State.

The intervention, executed by the charitable arm of Codix Group as part of its corporate social responsibility initiative, aims to improve teaching and learning, enhance student welfare and promote youth development in the host community.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, described the project as a commendable example of how public-private partnerships can contribute to the development of the education sector.

Arigbabu said collaboration between the government and private organisations was essential to improving educational standards and creating better learning environments for students.

“Education remains the bedrock of sustainable development, and true progress in our schools relies heavily on active synergy between the government and visionary private sector partners,” he said.

The commissioner also highlighted the importance of alumni contributions to the growth and sustainability of educational institutions.

He commended the Executive Chairman and Group Chief Executive of Codix Holdings Limited, Mr Sammy Ogunjimi, and his team for demonstrating commitment to corporate citizenship and the development of their former school.

According to him, the initiative reflects the enduring bond between alumni and their alma mater, as well as their willingness to contribute to the institution’s long-term development.

Representing the Olofin of Ilishan-Remo and the Baale of Ago-Ilara, Dr Muftau Oyegunle expressed appreciation to the foundation on behalf of the host community.

Oyegunle described the intervention as a significant contribution to community development, noting that the upgraded facilities would support the school’s educational activities.

The project includes the construction of two classroom blocks, eight restrooms, the provision of new furniture and 10 desktop computers, as well as the renovation of the junior school principal’s office.

The facilities are expected to improve the learning environment and provide students and teachers with better resources for academic activities.

Speaking on the motivation behind the initiative, Ogunjimi said his decision to invest in the school was inspired by his experiences as a former student of Isanbi Comprehensive Secondary School.

He explained that the memories and foundational knowledge he gained at the institution motivated him to give back and contribute to its future development.

Ogunjimi stressed that a conducive learning environment was essential to helping students realise their potential and prepare for future opportunities.

“Better learning environments can inspire students, strengthen their confidence, and create opportunities for them to participate more effectively in the future economy,” he said.

The commissioning ceremony attracted government officials, school representatives, alumni and community leaders, who commended the foundation for its contribution to educational development.

Among the dignitaries present were the Executive Chairman of the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board, Joshua Olalekan Ifede; President of the Isanbi Old Students Association, Rev. Gideon Adebanjo; Dr Waheed Abiodun Osinowo, Asoju Oba of Ilishan; and Chief Ade Fagorala, Oliwo of Ilishan-Remo.
