The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results of 85 underage candidates—those below 16 years as of September 2025—who successfully completed its comprehensive screening process for exceptional admission.
The announcement was made in a statement issued on Monday by the examination body, which explained that the cleared candidates had been notified to proceed to their respective institutions to finalise admission formalities and print their admission letters.
According to JAMB, the “exceptional admission policy” aligns with global best practices, where underage admissions are treated as rare exceptions rather than a standard procedure.
The Board revealed that in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), out of 2,031,133 applicants, a total of 41,027 sought consideration under the special category. Of these, 599 candidates met the 80 percent UTME performance threshold and were subjected to further screening of school certificates and Post-UTME results. This process produced 182 finalists, out of which 85 were found eligible for admission after additional verification and interviews.
JAMB advised any of the 182 finalists who missed the final interview for valid reasons to submit a formal request through the JAMB Support Ticketing System under the category titled “2025 Underage Complaint.” The Board emphasised that each case would be considered strictly on merit.
In a related development, JAMB announced that UTME candidates who scored 320 and above but were disqualified for failing to upload their O-Level results have been granted a two-day window—ending October 29, 2025—to upload their results and notify the Board through the same ticketing system.
Reaffirming its commitment to fairness, transparency, and integrity in Nigeria’s tertiary admission process, JAMB assured that all procedures would continue to uphold academic standards across institutions.
